Fighting the hiccups is a common problem for many people. When hiccups strike, it’s common for individuals to feel embarrassed and try to hide the problem. But there are some things you can do about this reaction, which are more natural than others. Here are six of them. 1) Place one hand on your stomach and the other on your mouth while taking deep breaths in through your nose. This will help stretch out your diaphragm muscles, which helps prevent spasms that cause hiccups. 2) Eat large amounts of water to dilate your stomach. Taking in more air will also help, but the size of your stomach will only go down when you take in enough water. 3) Relax and breathe slowly for five to ten minutes before bedtime. The slower you breathe, the less chance you have for spasms that cause hiccups. 4) If the hiccups are particularly bad at night, place a rubber band around your wrist and put it against your lips while lying on your back with your head turned toward the ceiling. This trick has been reported to reduce hiccup attacks by up to 40% (¼). 5) Before you lie down in bed, perform a physical movement. It may help you fall asleep faster when the time comes. 6) Focus on one thing in the room that's furthest away from you. You can concentrate on a small object, such as a picture frame or even the little knob on a closet door. The trick is to focus your eyes to make them feel less nauseated and give you something else to think about other than your stomach spasms which cause the hiccups in the first place.Category:Health and fitness Category:Alternative medicinehttp://www.lexdlx.com/h1/viewtopic. php?t=48 https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/jun/05/how-to-beat-your-hiccups-if-youre-anxiety-sufferer http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-6075242/DIY-homeopathic-cure-hiccups.html http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/10/28/aretha-fkrakertsonsstomachachemedicinehasgameplanforyourafternoonpickles_. html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/howaboutthat/3414567/Trying-to-hold-in-the-hiccups.html?image=12 http://www.buzzfeed.com/arianelange/theres-a-scientificallyprovenwaytobeatyourhiccups?utm_term=4ldqpia#.lbbkdO6Iq https://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2014/09/hiccuping-defeated-onlycanadianmayorhasfacehiccup4ever/#sthash. cfa1e77820
