Anacondas are the world's largest snakes. These creatures grow up to 30 feet long and can weigh as much as 1,000 pounds. Some species of anaconda primarily feed on the flesh of preys such as pigs, deer, and capybara, but others switch between mostly fish-eating and primarily mammal-eating habits. As their name implies, they can unhinge their jaw to swallow whole animals that are over 3 times their size. Although these giant snakes primarily inhabit South America and tropical areas of Northern Australia and Papua New Guinea help increase their range in recent years due to deforestation. The term 'anaconda' comes from a South American Indian language which means "unpleasant moisture". A single anaconda may eat a maximum of a ton of food a year. They have a very slow metabolism and can live for 25 years in captivity. The length of the snake's head is more than half it's total length while the length of its body is greater than three-fourths or four-fifths its length. This is one of the most impressive features that makes up the anaconda's size. In this movie, the head of the snake is seen in a smaller size than the rest of its body. In real life, anacondas live in tropical forests and savannas from South America to southeastern Brazil. They are solitary animals and hide in tree branches to ambush prey during the night. This is not true in this movie, where there is a fight between two anacondas and two poachers. This film features a lot of action scenes with several animals. The film's director uses many animals in his movies because he feels that they add more excitement to his work than just people. He says that when you add animals into your movie, it makes it "more fun". Lionel Dutronc was originally cast as former wildlife rescuer turned poacher, Denis. However, due to scheduling conflicts, he left the film after two weeks of production. It was then that Steven R. Schirripa came on board to fill in for his role.Anaconda 3 is a 2006 direct-to-video sequel to "Anaconda", released on January 31, 2006.
